Spicy details of NYFW2015! How to stay up to date?
Finally the moment all fashionistas were waiting for has come. Fashion Week 2015 kicked off last Thursday in New York! This is the event that over the years managed to break the rules and set the tone of fashion industry. And if for some of you fashion week sounds like fun and entertaining show, for others it means non-stop working hours and sleepless nights! Those are not longer just models and designers who are involved. Think about all makeup and stylists, publicists and media, stage developers and decorators. They all go the extra mile for this event to rock!
However, the truth is – if you are not Victoria Beckham, Vogue’s magazine editor, a friend of Alexander Wang or Mister Big in fashion industry, your chances to experience the real vibe of the event are close to zero. Unless you somehow manage to sneak in :)
No panic, though! With today’s boost of social media everyone can stay up to date with the hottest looks and spicy details of NYFW 2015. For instance, Instagram and NYC fashion week team up at the whole new level this season. Last Friday Instagram added a new section called “The Best of Fashion Week Updated Daily By @Instagram" to its “Explore” page to showcase the very best shots. Users can click to find out the most recent updates coming straight from the runway of NYFW Spring/Summer 2016 collection. There you won’t be bothered by images with thousands likes or accounts with a lot of followers but irrelevant content. Instead, Instagram will filter it out for you. To make sure you get only the best insights of what’s going on at the shows, backstage and after parties, it will go through the images and cull only those with the highest value!
Back in the days, fashion weeks were organized only for fashion and beauty insiders. Today, social media is changing the game dramatically. It has become an ultimate goal for many fashion companies to provide user-generated content on social platforms in order to engage with fans and show off the latest looks outside the runway. And this approach seems to be working pretty well! Yearly, millions of fashion fans from around the globe join in the hype to share the experience of New York Fashion Week. Here is some overwhelming statistics: 5,289 tweets about NYFW 2014 were posted in Twitter every hour, which accounted for 992,000 total tweets at the end of the show. 340,000 images with #NYFW hashtag were shared in Instagram in February 2015. That is 93% more then during previous season shows in 2014. Needless to say, social media is a powerful tool that managed to take the New York Fashion Week to the whole new level!
